This framework offers courses in 2 different programs:
Program I:
Studies toward a Specialization Certificate in the Educational Use of Information & Communication TechnologiesThis program examines a wide variety of aspects of the use of the internet in both learning and teaching. It seeks to widen teachers' understanding of the digital environment and how it affects education, and offers both theoretical and practical insight into the use of internet-based tools in the classroom.
Program II:
Studies toward a Specialization Certificate in the Didactics of Teaching English as a Foreign Language
The courses in this program give a broad backbone to teaching English as a foreign language, and are appropriate for those teaching English at all levels. Practicing teachers will be able to update, enrich and extend their knowledge of EFL education and its application in the classroom. All courses stress how to teach English in a global world.
- Children's Literature in the EFL Classroom - Instructor: Dr. Vitela Arzi. The course surveys children's and young adults' literature as it appears in English speaking countries. The approach is generic, covering topics from simple nursery rhymes, through folk and fairy tales, fables and fantasy to young adults' literature.
- Digital Story Telling for Teaching Language Acquisition - Instructor: Dr. Elaine Hoter. This course is offered specifically for those teaching English as a foreign langauge although the content can be adapted for teachers of other languages. Digital story telling, combining the age old profession of story telling with digital technology has found its expression in many fields.
- Using the Internet for Language Learning - Instructor: Dr. Elaine Hoter. The course focuses on to best use the internet to improve the teaching of English. The objective of the course is not to just expose the participants to the wealth of resources available on the Internet but to critically evaluate the usefulness of the materials and activities.
- Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to People with Learning Disabilities (LD). The purpose of this course is to: increase awareness through knowledge of what it means to have a learning disability; to empower EFL teachers as regards the teaching of students with learning disabilities; to develop teaching skills that can enhance learning for students with learning disabilities; and to introduce the importance of developing skills for metacognition in learners.
Costs
