Description:
Teachers of Hebrew as an Additional Language frequently have to deal with significant
challenges in their day-to-day work. They have to present study programs for their
classes, evaluate the quality and effectiveness of various learning materials and
teaching methods, decide which grammatical concepts will be taught and how to teach
them, and prepare lessons. The latter entails choosing the appropriate reading texts,
planning a variety of learning activities, writing numerous exercises, encouraging
students to use the language they have learned, and finally, evaluating the students'
achievements.
In this online meeting, we will present the various topics that will
be addressed in the course, “Devising a Curriculum and Designing Learning Materials
for Teaching Hebrew as an Additional Language: Didactic Considerations, Rationale,
and Contents”. We will weigh the potential value of the different instruments offered
in the course and their usefulness to teachers in their work. Participants will
also have the opportunity to tell us about their specific needs in this field.

Biography
Rachel E. Lerner Moore holds a Master's degree in Jewish Education
for the Diaspora and in Hebrew Language from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
She is the author and project director of the Beinenu Program and the Toratenu Hebrew
Program - series of Books for Teaching Hebrew as a Second Language for Secondary
School Students. She served as the director of Michlelet Shazar, the former High
Institute for Jewish Studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as a lecturer there.
Ms. Moore has taught Hebrew as a Second Language and has trained teachers extensively
in this task in the United States, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Argentina.
She is currently serving as a lecturer at the Yesod HaDat Teachers' Seminary in
Buenos Aires, and she coordinates the Hebrew Language Teaching Program at the Toratenu
and Joseph Karo Jewish Day Schools in that city.

כל מורה לעברית כשפה שנייה מתמודד לעתים קרובות עם אתגרים משמעותיים בעבודתו היום-יומית.
עליו להגיש תכניות לימודים להוראת העברית בכיתות שלו; להעריך את איכותם ואת יעילותם
של חומרי לימוד שונים ושל שיטות לימוד למיניהן; להחליט אילו נושאים דקדוקיים ללמד וכיצד
להקנות אותם; להכין שיעורים רבים ובמסגרתם לבחור בטקסטים מתאימים לקריאה; לתכנן פעילויות
לימוד מגוונות; לכתוב תרגילים רבים; לעודד את תלמידיו להשתמש בידע הלשוני הנלמד; ולהעריך
את הישגיהם.
במפגש מקוון זה נציג את הנושאים שיילמדו בקורס "תכנון לימודים ופיתוח קוריקולרי"
ונשקול את מידת יעילותם של הכלים שיוקנו בו לעבודתו של המורה וכידע שיסייע לו להכריע
הכרעות דידקטיות נבונות ומבוססות. במסגרת הוובינר תינתן למשתתפים האפשרות גם לספר על
הצרכים הספציפיים בתחום זה. הוובינר יועבר בשפה העברית.
ביוגרפיה
רחל לרנר מור, בעלת תואר שני בחינוך יהודי בתפוצות ובלשון עברית מהאוניברסיטה העברית
בירושלים, היא מחברת ומרכזת הפרויקטים "בינינו" ו"עברית בתורתנו",
סדרות של ספרי לימוד להוראת העברית כשפה נוספת בבית הספר התיכון. רחל הייתה המנהלת
של "מכללת שז"ר" לשעבר, המוסד הגבוה ללימודי יהדות בבואנוס איירס, ארגנטינה,
ואף שימשה בו כמרצה. רחל לימדה עברית כשפה נוספת והכשירה מורים בתחום זה בארצות הברית,
במכסיקו, בפנמה, באקוודור, באורוגואי ובארגנטינה. כיום היא מרצה בסמינר למורות יסוד
הדת בבואנוס איירס, ומרכזת את התכנית להוראת הלשון העברית בבתי הספר היומיים 'תורתנו'
ו'יוסף קארו' בבואנוס איירס.
