"The Jew's faith finds expression in the Hebrew calendar", says Rabbi Hirsch in his writings. The aim of this course is to impart to the teacher ways of teaching the topic "The Hebrew Calendar" in the classroom. The most important aspect of the course is to present the basic contents of each and every festival in the calendar on the one hand, and to introduce key ideas and views that will serve to refresh the participants' existing knowledge on the other. In addition, the teaching staff will be afforded ways of teaching and methods for applying the material in the classroom.
Topics that will be discussed during the proposed lessons:
- Shabbat Bereishit and its place as a sign and covenant in the heart of the Jewish home
- New moon: The renewal of the world, the renewal of man
- The first pilgrimage: The festival of freedom.
- The second pilgrimage: The Giving of the Law.
- The third pilgrimage: Succot.
- The Days of Awe: Rosh Hashana
- The Days of Awe: The Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur
- The fast days: 17th of Tammuz, 9th of Av, 3rd of Tishrei, 10th of Tevet, 13th of Adar, 14th of Nissan
- The days of Hannukah: When the spirit returns home
- The days of Purim: When the body begins to breathe again

 Maarabi Mordejai, Rabbi Dr.

El Rab Mordejai Maarabi nació en Argentina y tiene 56 años de edad. Médico, con especialidad en Psiquiatría en el campo de la asistencia y prevención de las adicciones. Fundó hace 15 años en Buenos Aires la Institución “Maor, retorno a la vida”, única en su estilo para la asistencia y prevención de las fármaco-dependencias de la comunidad judía. En el mes de Marzo de 2010 se inauguró el Primer Centro de Día de Maor. Fue Rabino de la Comunidad Israelita Latina de Buenos Aires (Congregación Marroquí) por espacio de 4 años. Más tarde, ejerció el Rabinato de la Comunidad ‘Chalom’, de judíos oriundos de Rodas, Salónica y Cos. Fue Gran Rabino de la Comunidad Judía del Uruguay, por espacio de 7 años, hasta su Aliá a Israel en julio de 2009.
Es docente especializado en Biblia, Torá Oral y Pensamiento Judío. Desde hace 15 años, posee su espacio radial, en FM JAI de la Argentina, todos los viernes, a las 17 horas, con su Programa “Erev Shabat”, donde acerca sus reflexiones sobre la Porción Semanal de la Torá. Hoy, en Israel, dicta cursos para Adultos en el marco del Departamento de Educación No Formal de la Municipalidad de Ra’anana. Asimismo, dirige, bajo los auspicios de los ‘Ulpanéi Guir Or Etzion’ y la autorización de la Rabanut haRashit de Israel, el Ulpán de Conversiones para Hispanoparlantes en Ra’anana. El Rab Maarabi es docente del ‘Majón Mofet’, en el departamento de habla hispana, y ha dictado, durante el último semestre y en el marco de la Academia Virtual del Majón, un curso sobre “El Año Judío”.

Rabbi Dr. Mordechai Ma'aravi received his physician and psychiatrist certificates from Buenos Aires University. He received his rabbinical ordination from the Sephardic Midrash in Jerusalem. In recent years, he served as the Chief Rabbi of the Uruguay Jewish community, which numbers some 15,000 Jews. Among other things, Rabbi Dr. Ma'aravi served as the general manager of the Rambam School and a lecturer at Midreshet Torateinu and Shazar College. He has written three books on the topic of the Hebrew calendar and the weekly Torah portions.
